The Biggest Misconception About Davos & Why My Davos 2023 Was So Spectacular

I recently finished my 2nd Davos. My first Davos, last May, was super interesting. I was invited to bring CryptoMondays to Davos. We had a packed house for a fireside chat with Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple. An impottant lesson learned on my the first trip was that every American mispronounces Davos.

My 2nd Davos blew away my first. And I’ll get to what happened shortly. But few people even know what Davos is or how it started.

What IS Davos?

The story of how Davos came to be starts with the World Economic Forum (“WEF”) which was “ … founded on 24 January 1971 by German engineer and economist Klaus Schwab.” WEF grew and grew in importance over the years, emerging as THE global gathering of 3,000 of the world’s most powerful “.. investors, business leaders, political leaders, economists, celebrities and journalists — for up to five days to discuss global issues across 500 sessions”. The security is intense as they completely cordon off a small part of Promenadestrasse, the main street running through Davos, the tiny Alpine resort town 5,200 feet above sea level. The theme at WEF this year was “Cooperation In A Fragmented World”.
